Obelisk breaks gender boundaries

Posted: 22nd November 2019

As part of the continued expansion of Obelisk’s Mobile team, Pamela Lee has recently become the company’s first female rigger after making a career change from Accounts Receivable.

As part of her new role, Pamela will now be involved in building and upgrading telecommunication sites across Ireland, and ensuring work carried out is in line with customer requirements and standards. Pamela has undergone training including Safe Pass, Climbing and Rescue, EMF, Medical and ESB Induction.

The transition from office to field has been seamless for Pamela and this is a credit to her flexibility and determination.

Pamela Lee, Trainee Telecoms Rigger at Obelisk said:

"I'm in the process of changing roles from an Accounts Receivable Administrator to a Telecoms Rigger, which is going well. John Cullen and Lisa Healy have been very supportive of my career change.
My advice to other women is not to be discouraged by jobs we assume are only suitable for men, I’m proof that women can also become Riggers.’’

Lisa Healy, HR Director at Obelisk said:

"I am delighted that Pamela has made this career change and we could be involved with supporting her with this major transition from office to field.

Obelisk would like to wish her every success in her new role and look forward to more women following in her footsteps."
