Scope: Construction of mobile radio base stations

Client: Mono

Location: Province wide in Northern Ireland

Date: Nov 2008 to 2010

Requirements: To construct all sites in Northern Ireland in accordance with the rollout programme.

Solution: Obelisk was responsible for end to end delivery including power-up and testing ready for commissioning & integration. Our scope of work on this project included:

  • Project & programme management
  • Site Supervision
  • CDM Coordination
  • Civils work (foundations, excavations, compounds, fencing, retaining walls, piling, dewatering, drainage etc.)
  • Road openings & reinstatement of footpaths etc. (incl submission of permits & paying bonds)
  • Exposing, tracing, ducting or diverting (where appropriate & permitted) extg buried services
  • Liaising with utility companies & statutory authorities
  • Temporary & permanent access tracks
  • Electrical, earthing and lightning protection works
  • Rigging works (erection of antenna support structure & rigging of antennas/coaxial cables etc.)
  • Installation & inspection of fall arrest systems

Obelisk Impact: Obelisk Networks UK has constructed over 110no sites with approximately 80% being Streetworks (comprising street furniture & outdoor equipment cabinets) on roadside urban locations specifically for population coverage and capacity purposes.
Using local highly experienced PM’s and resources, Obelisk has delivered consistently on time and within budget to the highest quality and safety standards.
