Ericsson - Vodafone Darwin Site Engineering Project

Scope: Full Site Design Service


Location: Republic of Ireland

Date: Feb 2013 to present.

Requirements: Determine the radio equipment configuration, the antenna system configuration as well as other site requirements including structural sign off and Health and Safety Upgradesto deliver a full Radio Access Network 2G swap, and LTE rollout, to Vodafone in Ireland.

  • Radio end state architecture design
  • Structural Sign off including; global design calculations, structural climb-downs and analysis, foundation analysis.
  • Full suite of CAD drawings; General Arrangement Drawings, Proposed Nominal Design, Detailed Design, As- Builds
  • Stealth and bespoke solution design
  • Soil Investigation including trial pits, boreholes, dynamic probing and associated laboratory testing.
  • Health and Safety upgrade design
  • Rooftop and tower remedial work design
  • Build Contractor liaison, site build snagging and acceptance through pre-construction meetings, post-construction meetings, detailed snag reporting, etc.
  • Completion of a comprehensive safety file on every site.

Obelisk Impact: The Obelisk Site Engineering team has surveyed over 500 sites to date in this project and can operate at peak of 45 surveys per week. Associated design work for these sites is ongoing and Obelisk designed sites are being rolled out by Ericsson week on week. By project completion Obelisk will have completed the design on over one third of Vodafone’s entire network.
