Employee Testimonials:

Robert Farrell, Design Engineer

Robert Farrell

My name is Robert Farrell and I would consider myself a success story of the Obelisk Graduate Program. I joined Obelisk Group in November 2011 through their Graduate Engineer Program. I was previously an Electrical Services Design Engineer and having suffered the effects of the “recession” for almost 18 months prior to this I was eager to get back on the employment ladder.

From day one it was clear that Obelisk wanted me to develop and advance, with a different training course every week for the first month or two, and then at least one course a month for the next year. These courses combined with on-site experience & guidance from some very experienced colleagues provided the perfect start to my career in Telecoms.

Since starting I have gained excellent experience in several different areas of the industry. Site Build (I&C), Maintenance, Site Design and Project Co-ordination to name a few of my favourites. I am currently working on a project for one of Ireland’s leading Telecommunications companies which will allow them to enable the provision of 4G technologies to the Irish market.

I arrive to work every morning under the mantra “every day is a school day” as not a day goes by where I don’t learn something new either about the advancing technologies of telecoms or about myself. The work is challenging but I enjoy the work and I enjoy the challenges. I’m two years in and it’s still clear to me that Obelisk want me to develop and grow with the company. Obelisk is a great place to work with a fantastic compliment of staff and I’m looking forward to the years ahead.

Dave Healy, Group Health & Safety Manager

Dave Healy

When trying to find employment in the Irish Telecoms industry in 2008 Obelisk was a company that was consistently recommended to me by industry experts.  So I was delighted to get the opportunity to join them in October 2008 as a Rigger.  It became clear from that start that Training and Development of employees was a major driver in ensuring that the company remained current with emerging technologies.  That training coupled with on the ground experience allowed me to quickly move up the chain to Rigging Supervisor.  An excellent safety record is also something that sets Obelisk apart from its competitors.  Again, training is paramount in ensuring that this reputation remains intact so in November 2010 an opportunity arose to move to the Safety Department and enrol in a 2 year Safety Health and Welfare at Work Higher Diploma in University College Cork.

This was instrumental in helping me to reach my current position of Group Health & Safety Manager where I oversee the Safety Health and Welfare of Obelisk Group from Ireland to South Africa.  And the training isn’t finished yet...........

Although there might not be a role vacant at present we are always interested in CV’s for the following positions for works throughout Ireland and the UK:
